Drag a moulded rocker head through wet glaze on a door, a cabinet, a skirting board, a piece of MDF, or a plastered wall and it lays down knots, growth rings, and straight grain in one pass - the traditional graining technique, in a form that does not take years to learn.

Each head in the set produces a different pattern, from tight straight grain to wide oak figure, so you can vary the effect between panels and rails and avoid the repeated look that gives cheap faux finishes away. Ergonomic handles keep your grip steady through a long drag, which is the hardest part of graining, and the heads wipe clean between passes so the pattern stays crisp.

It suits furniture upcycling, kitchen door refinishing, set and prop building, model making, and decorative wall panels. Work over a dry base coat with a compatible glaze, practise the drag on scrap first to set your speed, and clean the tools with the appropriate solvent for your glaze before it cures. Work in a ventilated space, and store the heads flat so the rubber does not distort.
